A drunk hoon caught doing “circle work” in a North Albury car park claims he blew over because of the four rum balls and one drink he had earlier that night.
Ao Elijah Shuker, 19, pleaded guilty to mid-range drink driving in Albury Local Court.
Police saw a green Mitsubishi lancer doing “circle work” in the dirt carpark opposite the North Albury Sports Club on Kokoda St about 10.30pm on June 5.
The vehicle’s tyres had lost traction and were throwing dirt and dust across the carpark.
Police drove into the carpark and activated lights and sirens.
Documents state Shuker pulled over on Kokoda St, and was unable to provide a license to police.
He was taken to Albury police station where he recorded an alcohol reading of 0.101.
Shuker, who holds a Victorian P-plate license, told police he’d had four rum balls and a Bacardi and coke at home about 9.30pm that night.
Shuker represented himself at Albury Local Court.
“It was stupid,” Shuker said.
“I shouldn’t have done it”.
Magistrate Richard Funston took into account Shuker’s age and lack of criminal history.
He was disqualified from driving for four months with an interlock for 12 months, and fined $800.
