Albury-Wodonga’s best and worst child care and preschool facilities

One fifth of all childcare centres and preschools across Albury-Wodonga are not meeting national standards, latest data has revealed. SEE HOW YOUR CENTRE FARED

One fifth of Albury-Wodonga’s 53 childcare centres and preschools are not meeting the national quality standards.

The latest data from the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority shows 10 early learning facilities in the twin cities are still “working towards” the national quality standards (NQS), but have not yet met them.

The data showed 33 child care and preschool facilities were “meeting NQS”, while nine were “exceeding NQS”.

No childcare centres or preschools in Albury-Wodonga received the lowest possible overall rating of “significant improvement required” or the highest possible overall rating of “excellent”.

Each early learning centre is assessed on seven criteria including educational program and practice, children’s health and safety, physical environment, staffing arrangements, relationships with children, collaborative partnerships with families and communities, and governance and leadership.

Albury-Wodonga’s top child care and preschool facilities which, according to the ACECQA, are “exceeding” the national quality standards are:

  • Albury Preschool- assessed February 2019
  • Belgrade Ave Preschool- assessed September 2017
  • Bumble Bees Childcare Centre- assessed June 2017
  • Early Years Academy Thurgoona- assessed November 2017
  • Goodstart Early Learning Thurgoona- assessed May 2020
  • Good Start Early Learning Wodonga- assessed November 2019
  • Stanley Street Preschool- assessed January 2020
  • Thurgoona Pre-School- assessed November 2019
  • Wilcox Street Early Education Centre- assessed March 2020

Child care centres and preschools who received a rating of “working towards NQS” under one or more criteria include:

  • Albury Family Daycare- assessed November 2018
  • Albury Family Daycare Victoria- assessed February 2019
  • Guardian Childcare and Education Kinfolk Albury- assessed November 2019
  • Lots of Tots Early Learning Centre- assessed March 2019
  • West Albury Preschool Centre- assessed October 2019
  • Woodlands Childcare Centre- assessed April 2020
  • Community Kids Wodonga Early Education Centre- assessed March 2020
  • Kids on Campus- assessed February 2020
  • Koori First Steps Preschool- assessed May 2020
  • St Augustine’s PS OSHC- Extend- assessed March 2020
