Albury youngsters are flying high now that the highly anticipated skate park has opened but admit it took a “long time” to build.

The $3.6 milliondollar park was unveiled last week as kids flocked to sheltered area on the weekend.

As well as two covered bowls, it includes a state-of-the-art street skating section, a pump track, basketball court and a parkour area.

Daryl Davidson and Anthony Payne have been scooting for the past five years and say they have been waiting for a long while to make the most of the new park.

“It’s fun but it’s really slippery,” Daryl, 10, said.

Anthony, 13, said: “It’s actually good. It took a long time to build.”

The park has been in development since 2018 after hearing community feedback and has been guided by skate park users.

Construction for the skate park began on April 16 2021.
