Firefighters score mega pay win as police, ambos sold short

Hundreds of firefighters will get pay rises of more than 8 per cent this year in a win that is set to cause tension with paramedics and police on the coronavirus front line. The move has been slammed as an outrage by the Opposition emergency services spokesman.

Confusion as elective surgery set to resume

The state government’s landmark deal to combine public and private hospital resources to combat coronavirus has caused confusion ahead of elective surgery waitlists reopening next week, with the potential for public patients to gain priority access to the private system.
