OnlyFans creator Annie Knight shares how she avoids STIs

Annie Knight has made a career out of having sex with lots of men. This is how she avoids sexually transmitted infections – and why you should get tested, too.

'Australia's most sexually active' woman bares all

Annie Knight has become known as Australia’s most sexually active woman, but she says she takes her health down there seriously and has never had an STI.

The 27-year-old said this was due to strict testing protocols she makes men follow and her use of condoms.

With an aim to sleep with 1000 men in 2025 – and tracking at 367 so far this year – Knight has given insight into how she maintains her sexual health in a bid to encourage others to also take it seriously, amid falling screening rates.

Knight, who lives between Melbourne and the Gold Coast, started her OnlyFans account in late 2020 and last year had sex with 600 men.

“Some days I might sleep with five people and then the next few days I won’t sleep with anyone, because I do get tired, it is exhausting and some days I don’t want sex,’’ she said.

“When I do filming I have my applications out for six months and just recently I had like 23,000 messages,’’ Knight said.

“I’m doing a big event in mid-May on the Gold Coast and trying to film with as many guys as possible in a day. Usually with people I’d mostly look at location and whether they’re willing to get tested and be filmed. The oldest guy I’ve had is 59 but there’s no age limit.”

STIs

The OnlyFans star said she regularly underwent screening for STIs.

“I get tested every two weeks, swabs and blood tests and a urine test,’’ Knight said.

“When I’m filming with someone if it’s planned in advance, I get them to get tested and if it comes back negative we don’t use protection but if it’s not planned we use condoms.”

Sara Whitburn, the chair of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners sexual health special interest group and medical director at Sexual Health Victoria, said that getting tested regularly was a very important thing to do.

“We normally talk about people who are medium-to-high risk – so maybe changing partners or having sex with people who are at higher risk of STIs – getting tested every three months,” she said.

Dr Whitburn said full asymptomatic screening tested for chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, HIV and hepatitis if appropriate.

But she encouraged safer sex – where a condom or other barrier protection like a dam – was also used in addition to testing.

“When you use a barrier contraception, like a condom, you are actually also providing protection against human papillomavirus and the Herpes Simplex Virus,” she said.

“We would recommend thinking about safer sex, which includes using barriers and having regular testing based on your risk.”

Dr Whitburn said that people could also ask for a throat swab when they were asymptomatic and wanting to be screened.

“Oral sex is lower risk for STIs, but it’s not no risk,” she said.

“And so when we offer an asymptomatic screen, we do offer people a throat swab.

“We offer swabs wherever you might be having sex (penis, vagina, throat, and anus).

“There’s also blood tests for blood borne viruses such as hepatitis and HIV.”

Vaginal health

Knight often speaks about her vaginal health on social media.

She said she had used boric acid as a preventive tool to balance vaginal pH and yeasts until she heard it wasn’t good for fertility.

“I do have a naturopath and I use like probiotics which you inset inside (the vagina) and it keeps the good bacteria down there. If you get thrush you feel uncomfortable and itchy and I’ll know when something’s not quite right. I’ve never had an STI,” she said.

Dr Whitburn said that boric acid was often used by people who had recurrent thrush or kept getting bacterial vaginosis.

“It’s a very weak acid and so the idea is it helps keep the pH at more acidic levels which is a healthier level,” she said.

With regard to its impact on fertility, Dr Whitburn said there had been some studies on animals which showed it could affect sperm.

“But those studies have been inconclusive or there hasn’t been enough research in humans,” she said.

She warned that boric acid could affect barrier contraception like condoms or diaphragms.

“So if you are using boric acid you want to make sure that you’re not using it at the same time as you’re using barriers,” she said.

With regard to probiotics, Dr Whitburn said that they were sometimes considered by people to keep vaginal biome healthy.

“There’s more research needed into how you might use those probiotics,” she said.

“There’s not enough research to recommend it, but if she (Knight) is using it and it’s not causing her harm and she understands it is an under-researched area then that’s her personal choice.”

Don’t be embarrassed

Dr Whitburn urged others to not be embarrassed about getting tested, which was best to do every six to 12 months generally.

“People should definitely not be embarrassed. Taking care of your sexual health is taking care of your health,” she said.
