While the world is getting into festive party, wrapping-up-the-year mode, the sensational Sally Obermeder is taking a more, well, healthy approach.

Following on from the success of the best-selling book, Super Green Smoothies and the 30-Day Starter Challenge, Sally and her dynamo sister, Maha Koraiem announced the launch of their 30-Day Summer Body Challenge.

OK, now may seem a kooky time to be embarking on a health kick, but hey, when is it ever the right time? And Sal has definitely not become the festive party pooper.

“We started the Summer Body Challenge for a few reasons,” says Sally.

“Our followers and readers kept asking us how they could eat well, tone up and look amazing for summer. They wanted a way where they wouldn’t have to do a dangerous diet or eat really bland food, or suffer through some crazy super-intense gruelling daily workout regimen.

“Plus, for the last 6 months, we’ve been running our 30-Day Green Smoothie Challenge (a smoothie a day for 30 days) and our participants have experienced incredible results — weight loss (one participant has even lost over 20kg since starting our challenge!), heaps more energy, better sleep and less stress.”

Sally says she and Maha I live what they call a “super green lifestyle”.

“We’ve been chugging down green smoothies pretty much every day for over two years. They’re full of vitamins and nutrients and make us feel amazing. The rest of the day we eat clean, lean whole foods that continue that pattern — lean proteins, superfoods, loads of veggies.

“But we’ve never been ones to skip meals or deny ourselves a treat — we love food way too much for that. We just try and find ways where we can eat well and feel lean at the same time.”

“And yes, we talk about how to get through Xmas & New Year while still doing the Challenge so don’t worry, you can still eat and drink plenty!”

The Four Week Body Challenge is designed specifically to help you slim down and tone up and takes holistic approach across diet and exercise that is true to Sally & Maha’s clean and lean living philosophy.

Take a look at Sal’s website, www.swiish.com and there is no question, you’ll be inspired.

Meanwhile, the week continued in celebration, pre-festive mode.

Here’s a pick of some of the week’s best parties:

TAYLOR SWIFT CAME, PERFORMED, CONQUERED

I mean, what more is there to say, but Taylor Swift gives SUCH a sleek, polished and highly entertaining show that you can’t help but have a bloody brilliant time.

So when the Qantas peeps invited us to ‘bus’ out to ANZ Stadium, preceded by drinks at Rockpool, I mean what is a girl to do?

A great guest list joined the Swift set including the divine Ticky Fullerton, Richard Wilkins, GQ publisher Nick Smith, Olivia Wirth and husband Paul Howes and actor Les Hill. Ms Swift certainly put a swing in our step ...

JAN LOGAN’S LUXE LUNCH

The leading Aussie jeweller celebrated the launch of the new Jan Logan Matrix collection and announce the face of the 2016 campaign, Australian actor Natasha Liu Bordizzo.

Natasha stars in the new film Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny which premieres early next year, Jan always likes to feature some of Australia’s most talented and accomplished actors in her campaigns and in the past there has been Rose Byrne, Pheobe Tonkin and Teresa Palmer.

Jan’s Matrix jewellery collection is a marriage of heritage and unique contemporary design — very much the vibe of current jewellery style — with the event was held at Josephine Perry’s new French restaurant Missy French in Potts Point.

Josephine is daughter of Rockpool and Qantas main food man, Neil Perry and his former wife, Adele. By the way, the food and jewels were extraordinary.

KIDSPOT ANNOUNCE WINNERS OF VOICES 2015

Kidspot.com.au may be Australia’s number one parenting website, but they were the number one party-goers when the annual ‘Voices of 2015’ winners — a program of 100 of Australia’s finest bloggers and digital creatives — were announced.

With more Australians than ever before, particularly women, engaging through blogs and social communities, Voices of 2015 is the recognition and celebration of Australia’s best blogging talent.

Narrowed down from more than 3300 nominations to the Top 100 online creatives, it was the biggest year yet for the campaign with a huge increase in video and social content, the addition of podcast content, and the development of a brand new component to activate the bloggers owned audience with a popular vote.

At the Voices of 2015 Gala Awards, at Luna Park, the ACT-based blog, The Thud was announced as the overall winner of Voices of 2015. The Thud’s Lauren Dubois, a former political journalist and mum to ‘Thud’ (not his real name), reports from the frontline of parenthood, describing her blog as, “The thud of daily life. It’s coming back down to earth with a thud. Mostly, it’s my little Thud. The thud of my heart.”

Kidspot.com.au editor-in-chief Kim Wilson says The Voices of 2015 program has been running for five years and is renowned for uncovering the next wave of Australia’s best digital content creators and influencers.

“The blogging sphere has evolved considerably and is now recognised for its authenticity, originality, and power to engage and activate an audience,” said Kim.

Seven awards were announced on the night, and winners shared in a prize-pool valued at over $135,000.

MAC COSMETICS AND POSITIVE LIFE JOIN FORCES

Four hundred million dollars has been raised since ever MAC Cosmetics started its Viva Glam campaign — one that raise bucks for research into HIV.

As HIV does not discriminate, I was honoured to chair a drinks event and panel discussion for Positive Life and MAC and to talk about how far research and treatment has come in the last 30 years.

It was great to come home from something having learned the latest from those who work in the frontline and those who have been living ‘positively’ with the virus for over 30 years. Inspiring stuff.

HUGH JACKMAN STEALS THE LIMELIGHT

Hugh, Hugh, Hugh. Seriously, Mr Jackman is in the process of slaying audiences all around Australia and the night we went, the audience was in overdrive.

Familiar tune after familiar tune, Hugh went to Rio, to Les Mis-land and back to Broadway again with an incredibly slick and hugely entertaining show.

Yup, he is the consummate performer and one night during the week he even had Mr Russell Crowe up on stage as they battled out their memorable Les Mis duet.

Promoters Paul and Donna dainty hosted drinks after the show with everyone, yes, everyone, lining up for their token ‘look at me’ happy snap.

Foxtel guru Brian Walsh was in fine form as was Angela Bishop, Skye Leckie, Dickie Wilkins and Graeme McNeice.

QT HOTELS & RESORTS WORKS WITH LOCAL GROWERS AND FARMERS:

In a move set to alter industry standards in Australia, designer hotel group QT Hotels & Resorts has decided to ‘change’ the face of its food supply chain to bring some seasonal and specialised produce straight from the producer to the plate. So, they’ve engaged Georgie Neal to the newly-created role of ‘Forager’.

“I’m thrilled to be able to develop a long lasting and mutually beneficial network with growers nationwide who are as passionate about food freshness and great produce as we are,” said Georgie over a midweek lunch.

“With suppliers and supermarkets embroiled in ever-increasing price wars, this new arrangement means that the growers are receiving a better price for their produce. This will be showcased through the high standard of dishes created at QT Hotels by Creative Food Director, Robert Marchetti and the Bazaar teams in the QT Resorts.”
