It’s been a topsy turvy year on all fronts and the fashion world has not been immune.
Fortunately the awards ceremony circuit begins early in the northern hemisphere with the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Oscars and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards all being held in January and February, ahead the global spread of the coronavirus.
There were some serious style standouts on the international stage, with Olivia Colman, Zoe Kravitz and Natalie Portman shining brightly on the red carpet.
Closer to home the Allan Border Medal scraped in as one of the only glamour red carpets to be held before basically the whole country was locked down.
But like butterflies emerging from the cocoon, our celebrity set stepped out for a series of highly anticipated events including the ARIAS, AACTA’s and a pared back Brownlow awards once restrictions began to ease.
While many of the famous faces we often see in end of year “best of” fashion wraps were absent, it gave a new breed the opportunity to spread their wings and sate our hunger for glamour and style.
MasterChef judge Melissa Leong, Rosehaven star Celia Pacquola, actor Jacqueline McKenzie, as well as cricket WAGs Rachel Khawaja and Sarah Handscomb were among the many gorgeous women who made a fashion statement.
Familiar faces who also proved they rarely put a fashionable footstep wrong included Delta Goodrem, Jessica Mauboy and Margot Robbie.

Janelle Monáe
Singer Janelle Monáe’s Ralph Lauren gown at the Oscars was an absolute work of art. Constructed using more than 168,000 Swarovski crystals and requiring over 600 hours of hand-embroidered work, the gorgeous gown featured an open back, long sleeves, and a dramatic draped hood.
