Vanessa Amorosi’s mother appeared on ACA on Wednesday where she revealed the star still owes her hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Inside the Vanessa Amorosi family feud

The mother of Australian singer Vanessa Amorosi has broken her silence over her bitter court battle with her daughter, revealing that she has yet to be paid the hundreds of thousands of dollars owed to her.

Last August, the Victorian Supreme Court rules that Vanessa had won sole ownership of two properties held by a trust that listed both women as owners.

While the court gave the 70-year-old a deadline to vacate one of the properties, Vanessa was also ordered to pay her mother almost $870,000 in restitution.

During an appearance on A Current Affair, Vanessa’s mother, Joyleen, has claimed she has yet to receive a cent from her daughter.

Opening up about the court battle, Joyleen said the entire experience had left her emotionally distraught.

“It was horrible,” said the 70-year-old. “She didn’t even look at me in court.”

“I do care about the house. But I love my daughter more. I haven’t spoken to her in over 10 years. I will always love her. I hope she knows that,” she continued as she broke down in tears.

When pressed on whether she had tried to reach out to Vanessa in recent years, Joyleen said she had given up attempting to reconcile.

“I’ve not tried to talk to her because it went too far. It got out of control with lawyers. I’d love to meet her little son. He’s my grandson. I’ve never met him,” she confessed.

Vanessa has until the end of the month to pay her mother the $870,000 she is owed, however, her family told ACA they aren’t sure whether she intends to get the money from.

Following the ruling last year, the singer’s lawyer said she would pay once her mother had vacated the property and it had been sold.

Vanessa shot to fame with hits such as Absolutely Everybody and her popularity exploded after she performed at the Sydney Olympics.

Her international success earned her millions of dollars which went into a trust that listed her mother as the sole director until 2014 when the pair had a falling out.

This led Vanessa to hire forensic accountants to track her money before she launched legal action.

Vanessa proceeded to sue her mother for ownership of both homes, claiming both were purchased with her music earnings. However, her mother later countersued and told the trial her daughter had given her the house as a gift, which Vanessa denied.

Joyleen stuck to her guns during her appearance on ACA, insisting that there had been a verbal agreement with her daughter.

“The agreement was Vanessa bought the house with her money, but that it’s mum’s house,” she shared. “I told her I won’t take the house, but let’s just say when you need the money I will sell the home [on Mackenzie Lane].”

In December, the pair were ordered by a court to pay each other’s legal costs after both women technically won different aspects of their long and bitter legal dispute over a suburban home.
