UK viewers weigh in on Australian version of iconic reality show

It was made famous in the US and even more so, the UK, and now overseas viewers have reacted to the controversial Australian version of the Shore franchise.

Viewers shocked by dirty Aussie Shore scene

Charlotte Crosby says her “inbox is flooded” with fans reacting to the controversial Australian version of Geordie Shore.

Upon its premiere earlier this month, Aussie Shore immediately became a hot talking point, being declared the most X-rated show in local TV history.

Based off the hugely popular US and UK formats Jersey Shore and Geordie Shore, the show follows 11 Australian housemates living it up in a luxurious waterfront mansion in the party capital of Cairns, North Queensland. Sex, singles, C-bombs, full frontal-nudity and “getting mortal”, the Paramount+ series has it all, and then some.

Crosby, now 34, became a bona fide star on Geordie Shore, which was filmed in England’s Newcastle, starring in 12 seasons until her 2016 departure.

The reality TV star took up the more sensible role of ‘house boss’ for the Aussie version, basing herself in Cairns for several weeks during filming earlier this year.

Now, having returned back home to England, she’s revealed she has finally tuned into the show, musing she “cracked a rib” laughing throughout its racy scenes.

Crosby, who has enjoyed stints on several other local shows including Masked Singer and I’m A Celeb, also revealed the feedback she’s been getting from her UK fans.

“My inbox has been flooded with messages about how crazy you think the Aussie lot are! And how much you are enjoying the series,” Crosby wrote on Instagram.

Dozens of users took to the comment section of Crosby’s post, with one saying they were “literally dying every week for the next episode.”

“I’ve been loving it,” another said.

“Absolutely brilliant,” a third added.

Alongside the post, Crosby, who is pregnant with her second child, shared a clip from the second episode of herself sharing some words of advice with Cairns cast member Lily, who was feeling anxious after a big night out.

It didn’t take long for Crosby to encourage her to throw her worries to the wind, with Lily finishing off their deep and meaningful by declaring, “I’m licking arse today, because why not?”

Crosby applauded Lily’s brash statement, telling her, “Exactly. That’s the attitude to have.”

Episode six dropped on the streamer Thursday, and while more tame than earlier episodes, the first of which saw two cast members engage in a “p*ss ritual” in the house pool, viewers were still exposed to a number of sexual encounters between Lily and fellow housemate Tom, scenes showing Catia simulating oral sex with a carrot positioned on Con, and half-naked jelly wrestling bouts between the female cast members.

There’s also a dramatic love triangle brewing between Lexie, Tom and Lily. Both Tom and Lily have been getting together since the second episode, but Lexie is slowly becoming the target of Tom’s affections.

Meanwhile, Love Island UK star Callum Hole, who came third on this year’s season of Australia’s I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!, is due to join the Aussie Shore cast in upcoming episodes.

In short previews, we see him getting close to both Lexie and Catia.
