This year’s Twilight Beach Polo has been cancelled.

The popular social event was due to be staged on February 15 at St Kilda West Beach, with organisers citing the effects of a busy events schedule in Melbourne.

“After much heartfelt deliberation, Twilight Beach Polo has decided to postpone the event planned for Saturday, 15 February, 2020, until 2021,’’ a statement read.

“The effects of a newly crowded event calendar in Melbourne as well as various contributing factors have resulted in this carefully considered decision.”

Twilight Beach Polo started in 2017 and the modern twist on the equestrian sport — traditionally played on grass — has been credited with bringing the game to a wider audience.

It blended fashion and food with Chadstone being the official fashion partner of the event.

“Twilight Beach Polo would like to recognise and thank all of our partners, stakeholders and event attendees who have supported the event and in doing so, the greater Australian polo industry. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by this decision,’’ organisers said.
