Nick Kyrgios says he’s nothing but real as one of the stars in the Netflix doco Break Point.
The Aussie tennis ace and his partner Costeen Hatzi attended the premiere screening of the series on Thursday night at Melbourne Park.
“In tennis it’s a different side to what goes on,” Kyrgios said.
“Because you don’t see behind the scenes and what happens, especially my journey. It shows the youth can do it different ways. You don’t have to do it how Roger, Rafa, Novak did, it’s a different generation and they are amazing but you can do it different ways.
“You see the real Nick Kyrgios every day, I don’t try to be anyone else.”
Hatzi, who also features in the first episode, said she was proud of Kyrgios.
“I’m really excited to be a part of it, he’s definitely a character, there’s no one like him on the tour that’s for sure,” she said.
“He’s very entertaining, he’s different.”
Italian Matteo Berrettini, who features in the second episode, said it was important for the sport.
“You learn something about each player obviously - me, that I’m emotional and I give 100 percent,” he said.
“I haven’t watched the other episodes but it’s going to be a lot of fun. Rafa, Roger, 5-10 years ago they were winning everything. It’s going to be more open in a way and it’s going to be exciting.”
Other stars of Break Point attended the screening, including Frances Tiafoe, Taylor Fritz and Ajla Tomljanovic.
