Viewer frenzy as hit Netflix series drops episodes with no sound

Viewers eagerly awaiting new episodes to one of Netflix’s most popular shows were left scrambling over one big problem once they finally dropped.

Viewers eagerly awaiting new episodes of popular Netflix show Outer Banks were left in disarray after they appeared to drop on the streamer with no sound.

The US teen drama premiered its penultimate fourth season in two parts, the first five episodes being released October 10 and the remaining five on November 7.

However, fans have reported sound issues from episode 8 onwards, claiming the audio ceases following the iconic Netflix ‘tudum’ introduction.

Outer Banks dropped its final season 4 episodes on Netflix this week, but some viewers reported they had no sound.

“I need @netflix to fix the sound issue with the last episodes of Outer Banks right now,” one user wrote on X.

“What the f**k @netflix? Where is the sound in Outer Banks? Season 4, episode 8 and later. #EpicFail #Netflixfail #Netflix,” another said.

“WHERE TF IS THE SOUND FOR OUTER BANKS EPISODE 8, 9 & 10 like why tf this my audio not playing? & im not the only one with this issue!,” a third added.

Another user claimed they had sound but that it wasn’t synched to the video.

Netflix said in a statement at the time it was working “around the clock to fix this issue”.

It appears the issue, which has since been resolved, was affecting subscribers worldwide.

Outer Banks has gained a devoted cohort of fans after it debuted its first season in April 2020.

Starring Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline, the show is set in a community in the outer banks of North Carolina, where it follows the conflict between two groups of teenagers in pursuit of lost treasure.

Deadline reported earlier this month the show had been renewed for a fifth and final season.

Co-creators and executive producers Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke confirmed the series would be coming to an end.

“With a little sadness, but also excitement, we’re putting Season Four behind us, and are turning to Season Five, in which we hope to bring our beloved Pogues home in the way we imagined and planned years ago,” they said in a statement.

“Season Five will be our last season, and we think it will be our best yet.”
