A British weather presenter has put her foot in it, revealing a family surprise to the entirety of viewers.
The well-planned surprise party became public knowledge after her slip-up live on air, The Sun reports.
BBC North West reporter Annabel Tiffin was wrapping her show when the funny mistake was made.
Kawser Quamer had finished her weather report on Friday and then joined Tiffin on the show couch for a chat.
Tiffin asked her: “So, what have you got [coming] up at the weekend? Anything exciting?”
Quamer replied: “My niece’s surprise birthday party,” without realising that she had just revealed the surprise until her fellow presenter spelled it out.
“Oh that’s lovely. But not a surprise if she’s watching this,” Tiffin said.
The weather presenter saw the funny side of the blunder and burst out laughing, before she said: “Oh goodness me, I’ve spoiled the surprise.”
Other staff at the public broadcaster shared their reactions on social media.
BBC North West presenter Steve Saul commenting “Oh dear” on X (formerly Twitter), while BBC News’ creative director Chris Cook wrote: “This is DELIGHTFUL – have a great weekend all xxxx.”
BBC South West journalist Alastair Monk then said: “This is just brilliant. In a time of so much stress, just enjoy.”
Viewers also reacted on X, with one person writing: “I’ve watched this multiple times now. It gets funnier every time.”
Another added: “This is why I watch the regional news.”
