After the biggest Voice season in years, the TV talent show has crowned a new winner – with Bella Taylor Smith taking home the prize of $100,000 and the opportunity to release her own song.

“I can’t believe it,” she said.

“I’m so thankful and I can’t wait to see what incredible things are ahead for me. I’m really grateful ... thank you so much.”

Guy Sebastian said: “You are special Bella. Go out there and kill it, I know you will.”

Taylor Smith also revealed her strong connection to her coach, saying during the episode that she and Guy “share the same faith.” Bella is a member of the Hillsong church in Sydney, and will perform on Wednesday as headliner for an ‘Online Worship Experience’ for the church. Guy has been linked to and performed at the Hillsong church in the past past, and has been a member of Paradise Community Church, an Assemblies of God church in Adelaide.

During the episode, Sebastian also invited her to join him as the support act on his next tour.

The win comes a year after Guy’s brother Chris Sebastian - who competed on Kelly Rowland’s team - won the 2020 season of The Voice.

The top four acts – Rita Ora’s girl group G-Nat!on, Guy Sebastian’s vocal diva Bella, Keith Urban’s teen sensation Arlo Sim and Jess Mauboy’s lawnmowing crooner Mick Harrington – each performed a solo song plus a duet with their coach during an epic two-hour finale.

Highlights included Arlo welling up during an intense performance of the 5SOS hit Youngblood, telling the coaches after he’d finished singing: “I don’t know... it just took over and I let loose. I was vulnerable.”

Mick delivered an “extraordinary’ rendition of the LeAnn Rimes song How Do I Live, dedicated to his family, while Bella smashed out the Greatest Showman showstopper Never Enough - a performance that Guy praised as “world class.”

And teen girl group G-Nat!on delivered the night’s most energetic performance, channelling Beyonce for a tightly choreographed rendition of Run The World (Girls). And their coach Rita even surprised them with a video message of support from genuine girl group royalty - Spice Girl Emma Bunton.

This season of The Voice was a ratings smash for Seven, who poached the show from Nine last year in an unexpected move that saw that network insist The Voice “had become by far the poorest financial performer” on their slate.

Not so at Seven, where it launched to massive ratings off the back of the Olympics and consistently drew more viewers than Nine’s usual sure-fire ratings winner The Block.

“We are delighted with how The Voice is performing,” a Seven spokesperson recently told news.com.au of the season’s success.

“Our reinvention of the show has been a triumph and proven what we always knew: that The Voice is one of the greatest TV brands in the world.

“Keith, Rita, Guy, Jessica and this year’s remarkable artists are doing an amazing job, and the series just keeps getting better from here,” they added.

The season was a ratings smash - but there were a couple of controversies along the way.

But the season hasn’t been without controversy, with longtime judge Guy Sebastian at the centre of a couple of minor scandals: First he was forced to clarify comments he’d made in an interview about how much producers control what happens on the show, claiming he has “never once been told who to turn his chair for”.

And in the past week he was in the news again after he hastily deleted an endorsement of a pro-vaccination campaign issued by his Instagram account and instead issued an apology video that left many questioning his views on vaccination. That led to a tense on-air confrontation with radio host Ray Hadley, who advised Sebastian to “get off the fence.”
