SARAH Harris had to do a double take when she saw her name on the list of Logie nominations for 2017.
The Studio 10 host is up for a Silver Logie for best presenter but concedes she was surprised to get a guernsey, her first ever nomination for Australian television’s big awards night.
“I actually thought perhaps the voting had been hacked by the Russians,” said Harris, who also hosts Shark Tank.
“I’ve just had my head down and have been working hard and didn’t even think that I’d ever be considered alongside the people that I’ve been nominated with.
“I’d be lying if I didn’t think that maybe I am a bit of fraud being among these awesome people and being recognised alongside them.”
Whichever way the voting goes at Melbourne’s Crown Casino on April 23, the category will be a win for Channel Ten with the network’s talent taking out all nominations for best presenter.
Harris, 35, is up against Amanda Keller, Carrie Bickmore, Waleed Aly and Grant Denyer.
“Fabulous people,” she said.
“I just think we do things a bit differently at Channel Ten. We are a bit irreverent and we are ourselves and that is maybe why a few of us have been nominated.
“It is recognition that you are on the right path and that you are doing something right. I feel incredibly humbled and incredibly honoured to have been nominated.”
Harris was also celebrating yesterday with news Studio 10 is nominated for best news panel or current affairs program against Four Corners, The Project, Sunrise and Today.
“It has been a hard slog for our little show,” Harris said.
“Even if we don’t win, just getting this nomination feels like a victory for us.”
Just one woman is up for the prestigious Gold Logie this year with Jessica Marais vying for the much coveted gong alongside
And there has been a lot of debate over the lack of female’s represented in the Logie Hall of Fame.
Just Ruth Cracknell and Noni Hazlehurst have been recognised in that field since 1984 and Harris would like to see her colleagues Ita Buttrose and Denise Drysdale honoured.
“We’ve had so many women trailblazers who deserve to be honoured and remembered for that,” she said.
“Denise Drysdale often quips that she reached the glass ceiling and then had to clean it.”
