Stellar cast announced for new Aussie drama The Last Anniversary produced by Nicole Kidman

Cameras have started rolling on the new Australian drama, The Last Anniversary, which is produced by Nicole Kidman’s production company.

Miranda Richardson, Teresa Palmer and Danielle Macdonald star in the series adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s book The Last Anniversary, whichi will be produced by Nicole Kidman.

Cameras have started rolling on the new Australian drama, The Last Anniversary, as the stellar local cast was announced this morning.

Interest for the upcoming series was sparked at the SXSW event in Sydney last month when Nicole Kidman announced her company, Blossom Films, will produce the series in collaboration with Made Up Stories and TV studio Fifth Season.

The series has also been commissioned by the Foxtel Group for BINGE, who today announced the series will star The Clearing actress Teresa Palmer, Good Omens star Miranda Richardson and Danielle Macdonald from The Tourist.

Based on Australian author Liane Moriarty’s bestselling novel, The Last Anniversary is a gripping mystery about family, motherhood and the strong women who call Scribbly Gum Island home.

The island is known for the disappearance of a young couple decades ago, but it is a place of many secrets as well.

When Sophie Honeywell (played by Palmer) inherits a house on the island, left to her by her ex-boyfriend’s great-aunt Connie, it’s the fresh start she’s always wanted.

However, Sophie, who is single and almost 40, is fascinated by something else Connie left her – the hope that she might finally find The One on the mysterious island.

The story will be told in six episodes under the direction of John Polson, and also stars Helen Thomson, Susan Prior, Claude Scott-Mitchell, Charlie Garber, Uli Latukefu and Jeremy Lindsay Taylor.

Nicole Kidman has worked with Liane Moriarty before on Nine Perfect Strangers.

This is not Kidman’s first time adapting one of Morarty’s bestsellers into a series. Under her Blossom Films production company, she and co-creator Per Saari have produced some critically acclaimed dramas in recent years, including Big Little Lies, The Undoing and Nine Perfect Strangers. And over the years, she has become “good friends” with the Aussie author.

“From when I first went out and sat with her and had a cup of coffee with her, and we started our first, sort of, relationship together, it was just a wonderful,” Kidman told the audience at the SXSW festival last month.

“She’s the same age, she’s got kids, she’s gone through similar things at different times. It was just one of those things where you go, ‘Wow, I really like this person’. And they happen to be incredibly talented, but primarily, I just really like her.”
