Charlotte Crosby, the Brit reality star turned Snow Fairy, made the admission after she was unmasked. But she had good reason.

British reality star Charlotte Crosby cheekily broke The Masked Singer’s strict booze ban, sneaking in a bottle of wine for her final performance under the spectacular Snow Fairy mask.

The reality TV veteran – who became famous by appearing on Geordie Shore, then UK Celebrity Big Brother – was terrified when she realised she would be performing live and begged producers to let her have something to calm her nerves.

“I thought that they would give you a drink,” Crosby said over Zoom from her Sunderland home the morning after her unmasking. “So I was like begging ‘Please, anything? A glass of wine?’

“I was nervous as hell. My hands were shaking. I can’t remember the dance routine.

“I was like ‘please, please just one glass of wine’. And they were like ‘No, sorry we can’t give anything’.”

Crosby, who is best known to Aussie audiences for her 2020 appearance on another Ten reality show: I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!, planned to smuggle in a bottle second time around.

“But I bloody forgot so that was two performances where I was freaking out, going out there stone cold sober, no Dutch courage,” she laughed.

It was third-time lucky for Crosby for her final song, Meghan Trainor’s Lips Are Moving, bringing in the bottle in her bag.

“And I had a good couple of glasses before I went out,” she said.

The 31-year-old’s anxiety at singing live was compounded by her mum telling her for years that she “was crap and tone deaf” when she would sing loudly along to Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears on her Walkman.

“Although Mum keeps saying ‘Charlotte stop telling people that – it’s going to make us look awful’,” Crosby said.

She certainly proved her mum wrong and was buzzing at having performed in front of Spice Girl Mel B, and impressing the judging panel so much they thought she was a professional singer with guesses including UK soul singer Joss Stone and the Queen of hip-hop soul herself, Mary J Blige.

During UK's MTV highest rating television series ever Geordie Shore.

Crosby said she’d sign up for different global versions of The Masked Singer in a heartbeat, but would love to show off her business savvy on Celebrity Apprentice.

As for SAS Australia, it is a hard no.

“It’s my ideal of hell on earth,” she said, admitting she had been approached for the British version.

“There’s no amount of money that you can pay me to be shouted at, to be made to look like a fool, to be bullied and to hurt myself.

Crosby was the fifth celebrity revealed on The Masked Singer this season, with 90s Beverly Hills, 90210 heart throb Brian Austin Green unmasked in week one, and Ten’s veteran newsreader Sandra Sully revealed in week two. Week three was the surprise – and emotional – reveal of Summer Warne, daughter of late cricketing legend Shane Warne, who explained that she’d done the show in tribute to her dad.

And last week, long time The Block judge Shaynna Blaze was the biggest shock, showcasing her stunning Voice and appearing on a rival network at the same time as the Nine ratings juggernaut aired.
