The new season of The Great Australian Bake Off is set to return to screens next month – and viewers will get to see late co-host Cal Wilson on the show for the last time.

The beloved comedian and TV personality passed away in October following a short battle with cancer, after having already filmed four episodes of Season 7 of the hit Foxtel lifestyle program. She was 53.

“Season 7 of The Great Australian Bake Off holds a special place in all our hearts,” Director of Foxtel Channels and Content and Lifestyle Group General Manager Wendy Moore said.

Wilson died after a short battle with cancer in October, after already having filmed four episodes of GABO.

“Cal’s passing was a devastating shock to the Bake Off family, and she is dearly missed by everyone who knew her. Her deep love for this show and her unique blend of charisma and kindness brightened the shed every day.”

Ms Moore said with the full support of Wilson’s family and “with Cal in our hearts”, Season 7 will premiere on September 18 on BINGE and Foxtel.

This season sees the GABO judges – British culinary icon Rachel Khoo and Aussie pastry king Darren Purchese – back to mentor 12 budding new bakers.

Comedian Natalie Tran also returns and will tackle the hosting gig without Wilson after episode four.

Natalie Tran and Cal Wilson co-hosted the program up until Wilson’s death.

“This year, Bake Off holds a special place in our hearts and allows us to truly celebrate Cal,” Tran said.

“This season is a tribute to her memory, the incredible talent of our bakers, and the genuine camaraderie that makes the show so special.”

Over 10 weeks, 12 contestants from around the country are put through a series of challenges to test their skills and creativity when it comes to creating mouth-watering desserts, cakes, pastries and more.

And the cast is as diverse as they come – from 28-year-old theatre performer Adrian Barila, who heroes his Italian heritage, to proud Gunai Kurnai and Yorta Yorta man Jaden Briggs, who does wonders with bush tucker and native ingredients.

The 12 contestants on GABO come from all walks of life.

“I’m beyond excited for everyone to see our new season – the level of talent in the Bake Off shed is simply extraordinary,” Purchese said.

“We have such a diverse group of bakers this year, each bringing their own unique flair and background to the table”

The Great Australian Bake Off Season 7 will premiere Wednesday, September 18 at 8.30pm AEST on Foxtel and BINGE, with episodes dropping weekly at 8.30pm AEST on both
