‘Pathetic’: Fans’ big gripe with My Kitchen Rules
IT’S been an explosive start to the ninth season of My Kitchen Rules’ — but there’s one thing that’s making plenty of viewers absolutely furious.

WITH all the headlines surrounding My Kitchen Rules’ explosive fights, it’s easy to forget about the food this season.
Maybe that’s for the best — Seven’s reality TV juggernaut, now in its ninth season, has served up some real stinkers during the Instant Restaurants round and many of the scores have been wildly unimpressive.
During Wednesday night’s episode, Perth waitresses Stella and Jazzey landed the first perfect scores of the competition for their miso cod entree, but after a disastrous duck main and doughnut dessert, fell to the bottom of the leaderboard anyway.
But honestly, coverage-wise, conversations around the quality of the food have fallen far behind the show’s much-hyped “feud” between the rival teams of Roula and Rachael and Emma and Jess.
In every episode so far, viewers have watched the two groups sniping at each other and hurling around insults like “cow”, “plastic as f**k”, and “fat”.
While the show remains a ratings bonanza for the network, with around 1.5 million tuning in each night, it’s been a bit of a slap in the face to longtime My Kitchen Rules fans, who have vented their frustration on Twitter.
I remember when people went on #MKR because they could actually cook. This year is atrocious!

Well Done #MyKitchenRules , your new ad shows which teams are in the elimination before the final team has even cooked. Just shows that you consider the cooking part of the supposed competition of little relevance these days #MKR

With all these teams #bombing on #MKR - do the producers even care if teams can cook? Seems like they are just looking for the drama...

Can we see some cooking please?! #MKR

I find it boring that every team on @mykitchenrules so far are backstabbing asshats. #MKR has become disgusting this year. Maybe other teams will salvage the show??
â Melissa Darkshore (@MelDarkshore) February 7, 2018
I thought #Mkr was about cooking and people with a decent amount of cooking skill dispointed in this year's casting
â DeepikaL (@deepz_789) February 7, 2018
and I now could not be more sure #MKR is actually a set up of z-grade actors, no cooking skills required AT ALL!

Notice how the promo doesn't feature anything about the food? #MKR #MKR2018
â Lady Lou (@AlwaysLadyLou) February 7, 2018
This season cooking standard is pathetic. Don't the producers screen the contestants , or only pick shallow -mean - arrogant bullies? #MKR
