Nicole Kidman has confirmed that Big Little Lies season three is well underway, and that fans have a lot to look forward to.

Kidman, who won an Emmy for her portrayal of Celeste in the series, told Variety she and co-star Reese Witherspoon are “texting every day” about the new season.

“We’re at work on it,” she said. “And there’s a timeline and we’re doing it.”

Kidman refused to reveal any further details however, adding: “We can’t say anything more. We’ve got to start keeping our mouths shut … we’ve got to button it.”

Kidman and Witherspoon are executive producers on the David E. Kelley-created series, which is based on Liane Moriarty’s book of the same name.

Director Jean-Marc Vallée sadly passed away recently, so the third season will be the first without his input.

Speaking about his death, Witherspoon said in 2022: “Jean-Marc Vallée’s passing was really hard on us. He was our collaborator. He was our friend. He was our brother. So much of that series was born of his imagination and his creativity, so it is hard to imagine a future without him.”

However, at the time she teased that a third series could be in the pipeline, adding: “But there is certainly a deep desire for all of us to connect and create those characters again. I’m not sure logistically how it could be done because everyone is so busy. It [certainly] couldn’t be done right away. Down the road? Maybe.”

Meanwhile, Kidman, 56, walked the red carpet over the weekend at the city’s Museum of Modern Art for the premiere of her new series Expats, which launches globally on Prime Video this Friday.

A six-part limited series directed by The Farewell director Lulu Wang and co-executive produced by Kidman, Expats is based on the internationally best-selling novel The Expatriates by Janice Y. K. Lee. It features Kidman in an ensemble cast, playing a well-off expat living in Hong Kong whose comfortable life is rocked by a shocking personal upheaval.

Kidman also revealed recently that she used to “lie” about her appearance to secure auditions.
