‘My Kitchen Rules’: Josh and Austin hit back at ‘weird’ Manu

Viewers saw Manu lose his cool at Josh and Austin in last night’s episode, but he was even more fired up behind the scenes.

Manu blasts Josh and Austin

A My Kitchen Rules insider has revealed just how “furious” Manu Feildel was while filming last night’s episode.

Homeschooled brothers Josh and Austin copped a tongue lashing from the French judge for their schmozzle of an Instant Restaurant on Channel 7 last night.

After being so critical of other teams all season, Josh and Austin crumbled under the pressure when it was their turn to cook and made their guests wait for more than four hours for the main meal after serving the entree. And Manu was livid.

“I’m so, so disappointed right now,” Manu said to Josh and Austin in last night’s episode. “You’ve been sitting around this table treating people … telling them their food’s terrible and you’re not even capable of coming back with the goods.

“This is ridiculous! I’ve never expressed myself like this in 10 years!”

The judge was clearly angry, but according to a production insider he was even angrier behind the scenes

“Manu was so furious at the wait (including 4hrs 20mins for main) that for the first time ever in MKR history he was threatening to leave the Instant Restaurant and had to be begged by producers to stay,” the insider told news.com.au

“The night was taking so long, regular crew catering had run out so they had to order in fast food and some was also given to teams who had been waiting hours for their meal.”

The insider also revealed to news.com.au that Josh and Austin, whose parents are both missionaries, served their menus at their Instant Restaurant in bibles.

In an exclusive chat with news.com.au, Josh and Austin hit back at Manu and described his behaviour as inconsistent and “weird”.

“I found it really difficult with Manu,” Austin told news.com.au. “With Pete, you got what you got. But with Manu, one minute he’s really loving and caring, he’s like a father. And then the next minute he’s full of anger.”

Josh and Austin previously told news.com.au how they were headhunted by producers and were encouraged to apply for the reality show, despite being open about the fact they didn’t know much about cooking. That’s why Austin was so baffled when Manu attacked the pair for their cooking skills on last night’s episode.

“He’d (Manu) be like, ‘Why are you on this show?’ He asked us that many times,” Austin said. “We’re like, ‘Ask the producers, they asked us!’

“That’s why I was a bit annoyed. I was like, ‘We’re here, we’re doing our best, we’re trying to cook and we’ve said we’re inexperienced. What do you expect? Why are you getting angry at us?’”

“Why so angry, Manu?”
