THE Hollywood Reporter is hailing it as “one of 2018’s best shows so far”, and now Aussie’s will get to experience the hot hitman drama that’s been 14 years in the making.

Mr Inbetween, a new dramedy, is based on Scott Ryan’s acclaimed 2005 student film The Magician follows Ray Shoesmith (also played by Ryan), a sullen hitman whose job description entails everything from extortion and intimidation, to kidnapping and murder.

It’s super dark and deliriously offbeat and critics in the US are all over it like, well a TV critic on a hot new show. In short, they’re loving it sick.

Mr Inbetween has all kinds of elements, it’s not just funny, it’s not just violent; it’s like a three course meal, you’re getting a bit of everything within his morally complex, dangerous and funny world,” says Ryan.

Director Nash Edgerton is equally pumped about the six-part drama.

“I couldn’t be more excited to share with the world Scott’s wonderfully dangerous character, Ray Shoesmith and see him come to life once again,” says Edgerton.

Brooke Satchwell is thrilled she's getting international exposure, without having to leave Australia.

“Scott is a very talented writer and actor with a great natural ability, and he’s able to tread that line of being really charming and really scary at the same time.

“That’s what I loved so much about the character when I first saw The Magician and why I was interested in exploring the character further.”

Mr Inbetween is set to premiere on Fox Showcase, formerly Foxtel’s showcase, the official home of FX Originals (American Horror Story, Mayans MC, Pose), HBO (Game Of Thrones, Westworld, The Deuce, Big Little Lies) and Foxtel Originals (Wentworth and forthcoming dramas Fighting Season and Lambs of God).

The new channel, announced last night at Foxtel’s 2018/2019 Drama Showcase in Sydney, will also house over 100 complete series available On Demand.

Patrick Delany, Foxtel CEO, said, “Our recent launch of Fox Flicks brought an unrivalled movies experience to our subscribers with 1000s of movies to stream On Demand.

“Today, we’re raising that bar even higher by unveiling Fox Showcase, which promises a massive line up of edgy, thought-provoking and inspiring drama.”

Last night Foxtel also announced a new 10-part drama series called The End, starring Frances O’Connor (The Missing, Mr Selfridge) and Dame Harriet Walter (The Crown), about three generations of a family trying to figure out how to die with dignity and live with none.

The End will also star Noni Hazlehurst (A Place to Call Home), Robyn Nevin (Top of the Lake), John Waters (Offspring) and Alex Dimitriades (Secret City).

Mr Inbetween begins Monday, October 1 on Fox Showcase.
