THE Olsen twins have scotched a former co-star’s claim that they “don’t care” about the Full House reunion in welcome news for fans of the sitcom.
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen shared the role of Michelle Tanner in the sitcom, which ran from 1987-1995, and focused on a widowed dad (Bob Saget) helped to raise his three daughters DJ (Candace Cameron), Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and Michelle, with his best friend Joey (Dave Coulier) and brother-in-law, Jesse (John Stamos).
Stamos announced that Netflix will screen a 13-episode reunion of the show, entitled Fuller House.
In the new series, DJ Tanner Fuller enlists the help of her sister Stephanie and best friend Kimmy Gibler (Andrea Barber) to help her raise her two sons after she is widowed while pregnant with her third child.
Stamos is set to produce the series and appear in some episodes.
But while the former co-stars have all stayed close to each other, most recently reuniting for Coulier’s wedding, the Olsen twins have distanced themselves.
Arguably the biggest stars to emerge from the series, the twins quit acting and set their sights on the fashion world, managing two luxe lines, Elizabeth and James and The Row.
Mary-Kate has gone on to marry former French president Nicolas Sarkozy’s brother, Oliver, while Ashley is reportedly dating Foxcatcher director Bennett Miller after a string of boyfriends including Lance Armstrong and Hangover star Justin Bartha.
Lori Loughlin, who played John Stamos’ wife on the show, recently slammed the twins saying no one should expect to see them front up for the reunion.
“It doesn’t matter how much money they get paid. They don’t care,” she told Access Hollywood.
Loughlin, who along with Saget and Coulier are said to be holding out for more money before they sign on, went on to say that the show would “only need one of them” to agree to appear given the used to share the role due to their age when they started.
But the Olsen twins have hit back, saying they are interested in seeing what the spin-off has in store.
“We just found out about it,” Mary-Kate Olsen told Women’s Wear Daily. “I guess we’re going to talk to the creators and see what’s happening.”
“I ran into Bob (Saget) the other day and we didn’t even talk about it,” said Ashley.
“I’m shocked I haven’t heard from John (Stamos),” said Mary-Kate.
They didn’t rule out participation, but they might check in with their former TV dad first.
“I’m going to call (Saget) and get his perspective,” said Ashley.
