Radio host Jackie “O” Henderson returned to airwaves this week after taking a week off for the Easter break, during which she crashed the birthday party of former Married At First Sight bride, Cyrell Paule.
Not only did Henderson and some of her KIIS FM colleagues arrive uninvited to the birthday bash, but the radio host felt awkward after she appeared to make a “racist” comment to a fellow partygoer.
“We went along. All 10 of us. Gatecrashed,” Henderson recounted to her co-host, Kyle Sandilands, explaining that she was out partying withThe Kyle & Jackie O Show team when producer Joshua Fox suggested they drop by Paule’s party at a nearby rooftop bar in Sydney.
Only Fox was invited to the event, but told the team Paule was cool if he brought them along.
“First person I see, Cyrell, arms stretched, and I give her a big hug and say happy birthday.’ And she goes, ‘I am not Cyrell,’” Henderson recalled.
“And inside I was like, ‘Please tell me you are at least her sister so I don’t seem racist right now!’ And it was her sister! So I don’t feel so bad.”
Sandilands said it was an easy mistake to make as Paule and her sister, Karen, “actually look fairly similar”.
Paule was known as “Cyclone Cyrell” in Season 6 of MAFS back in 2019. The fiery bride ruffled some feathers in the reality show, particularly that of Martha Kalifatidis, who infamously poured a glass of red wine on Paule during one dinner party.
Apart from the awkward comment upon arrival, Henderson said the group had fun at the birthday party, where they “hung out for an hour” with a “very nice bunch of people”.
And she was proud of herself for remaining true to her lifestyle overhaul by not consuming any alcohol on her night out, even when the group continued “bar-hopping” late into the evening.
It didn’t sound like the definition of fun for Sandilands. He mocked Henderson, who recently lost 18kg, for not taking a man home on the night.
“You lost all that weight and you still can’t get any traction?” he joked. “What’s the point of all this sh*t?”
“We were in a big group. We were just hanging out, really,” Henderson explained.
