UPDATE: CHOKING back tears 2015 Gold Logie winner Carrie Bickmore from The Project paid emotional tribute to her late husband Greg Lange who died of brain cancer in 2010.
Accepting the top honour Bickmore said: “Over ten years I watched him suffer multiple seizures a day, lose feeling down one side of his body.
”He was an incredibly brave man, he was a great dad, he was a great husband. But he shouldn’t have had to go through that.” Revealing Lange had been embarrassed about his surgery scars and wore a beanie to cover them, she whipped out her own blue beanie and put it on, issuing a challenge to every TV host in Australia to do the same.
”Sam, Kochie, Karl, Lisa - wear it on TV tomorrow. If you’re going to school put a beanie on. If you’re going to work, put a beanie on. Take a pic of yourself with the hashtag #beaniesforbraincancer.”
“I want to dedicate this award to anyone that is going through a s--t time right now. Please believe that there will be a brighter day for you. Please believe that. I’ll see you on the dance floor. Thank you very much.”

Looking glamorous in a figure hugging, ethereal dress with a plunging neckline, it was difficult to believe the 34-year old only gave birth to her second child Evie seven weeks ago.

It was the night for new mums – and plunging necklines - with Asher Keddie winning the Silver Logie for most popular actress for the fifth time in a row. The 40 year old Offspring star had her first child Valentino in March, with artist Vincent Fantauzzo.
“Even I myself thought it should be someone else’s turn this year - but I’ll take it” said Keddie, who’s been nominated for the Gold every year since 2011 and won in 2013. Her win will add to pressure for Ten to announce a new series of the drama.
Former Home and Away River Boy Steve Peacocke appeared via satellite to accept his Silver Logie for most popular actor. “This is completely unexpected,” he said. “No it’s not actually they told me I was going to win, that’s why I’m here!”
Peacocke, who left the soap in December to pursue a Hollywood career, is currently filming drama Me Before You in England, opposite Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke.
He’s also just finished production in the US on Fun House, opposite Tina Fey and Margot Robbie, based on the memoir Taliban Shuffle.
Home and Away also won most popular drama and became only the fourth program to ever be inducted into the Logies Hall of Fame. There was also a moving tribute to late cricket commentator Richie Benaud.
The Silver Logie for most outstanding actress went to Danielle Cormack who plays top dog Bea Smith on prison drama Wentworth. She was quickly called back on stage when Wentworth was honoured with most outstanding drama series. Most outstanding actor went to Luke Arnold, who played Michael Hutchence in INXS: Never Tear Us Apart.
Love Child’s Miranda Tapsell, who was raised in Kakadu National Park, won the prize for most popular new talent and the Graham Kennedy Award for most outstanding newcomer.
She used her first acceptance speech to thank those who voted for her, “even the ones who aren’t related to me” and to call for more indigenous people to be cast in mainstream TV.
“Put more beautiful people of colour on TV and connect viewers in way that transcend race,” she said.
Earlier Dave Hughes had opened the show with a killer monologue taking aim at everyone from Karl Stefanovic to Redfoo and cheekily suggesting Nine boss David Gyngell “looked like a crackhead” during his fight with James Packer. It gave viewers a small glimpse of the show the Logies could be if they enlisted someone of Hughes’ talent to anchor the entire night.
But one presenter spoken of as a potential future host, Julia Morris was responsible for night’s biggest stuff-up, blurting out the winner of most outstanding entertainment program before announcing the nominees. It was only after the judges’ acceptance speech for The Voice that a sheepish Morris read out the other nominees. “Let’s pretend it hasn’t happened,” she said, with her gracious and funny response winning praise on social media.
Dual Gold Logie nominees Hamish and Andy had an early win, picking up the first award of the night, most popular entertainment program for Gap Year South America. “It’s been an honour to make popular entertainment. We will never stray into outstanding, I promise,” joked Blake.
The pair also demonstrated their comic chops as presenters, using a faux Bachelor rose ceremony to announce the nominees for most popular reality series. The surprise winner of the publicly voted category was The Block, over ratings behemoth My Kitchen Rules. In another upset, The Living Room broke Better Homes and Gardens stranglehold on the most popular lifestyle program Logie after BH&G won seven years in a row.
