AUSTRALIAN children’s TV show Doodles has won an Emmy at a ceremony in Cannes, France.
It won in the Kids: Digital section of the International Emmy Kids Awards at the Grand Hyatt hotel in the centre of Cannes.
The award was accepted by directors/writers Daley Pearson and Benjamin Zaugg.
Two other Australian shows were in the final four in their categories.
Doodles is an interactive multi-platform children’s comedy series created with an online audience by Ludo Studio.
It is supported by Screen Australia and Screen Queensland.
The show on ABC 3 takes children’s drawings and ideas from around the world and turns them into funny animated episodes.
Each week the audience interacts with the show’s creators and cast online.
Together they create each episode’s latest animated adventure.
Mr Pearson said it was a delight and a shock to win.
“We have thousands of kids at home who took part in this show and made this show with us and we want to find a way share this with them, “ he said.
“It will be nice to show them you can be rewarded for taking a bit of a risk.”
Mr Zaugg said he wanted to thank everyone involved but especially the children who had contributed.
Wild but True starring Robert Irwin was in the final four of the Kids: Factual section.
Ready for This was in the Kids: Series section.
Representatives of all the shows were presented with Gold Medals on Monday at the Palais des Festivals ahead of the main ceremony.
The ceremony was held as part of the MIPTV entertainment festival and conference in Cannes this week.
