Asher Keddie is up for a Gold Logie at the TV Week Logie Awards on Sunday evening – and this time around, it “feels more special”.

The Aussie actress first took home the coveted gold statue for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television back in 2013 for her role in Offspring, winning hearts as the loveable and relatable Dr Nina Proudman.

“It actually feels more special now, to be honest,” she tells Stellar magazine ahead of the ceremony. “I was really taken aback when I got the call a few weeks back. I was like, ‘What does this mean?’ It’s extraordinary and I feel so excited.”

“This is why we do what we do, to connect with an audience and to tell stories they want to lean into. If this is the result of that, then I couldn’t be more thrilled.”

Keddie continues to be force on Aussie TV, this year captivating audiences for her roles in the BINGE Original Series Strife and in the Prime Video series Fake.

Viewers have tuned into her dramas in droves, but one viewer who has yet to see it is her 9-year-old son Valentino, who she shares with husband, artist Vincent Fantauzzo.

“He’s seen a couple of ads for Strife. More recently, he’s seen some ads on Network 10 for Fake and asked if he could watch it. And I was like, ‘Um, I’m not sure about that one, darling!’” said Keddie, who is also stepmum to Luca, Fantauzzo’s son from his previous marriage.

“[Valentino] He wouldn’t be interested right now. The content is just too adult. As wise beyond his years as this kid is, he’s not ready for adult drama.”

Still, he is excited his talented mum is nominated for a Gold Logie.

“He was like, ‘Oh wow! That’s a big deal.’ So he will probably be allowed to stay up and watch a bit of it,” she shared.

The actress also discussed her Logies attire in the Stellar interview, saying that she knows what works for her now after many years of hits and misses.

“If you feel fabulous, you will generally look pretty good,” she said. “This year – and this is probably down to age as well, and having done it so many times – I don’t feel the pressure to look a certain way, or as what everybody else wants me to look like. I mean, I’m not going to sit there in a corset anymore. Been there, done that.”

Earlier this month, BINGE revealed that filming for StrifeSeason 2 was well underway.

The critically acclaimed series proved to be a hit with audiences when it premiered in December last year.

The comedic drama follows Keddie in the role of Evelyn Jones, a magazine editor-turned-creator of a start-up women’s website Eve Life that becomes a leading force in women’s media.

Inspired by Mamamia founder and media mogul Mia Freedman’s real-life memoir Work, Strife, Balance, the series explores the highs and lows of motherhood, careers and romantic relationships and the hilarious moments in-between.
