ADAM Levine debuted a scary new look on The Voice US — a shaved head, and it sent the internet into a tailspin.

The Maroon 5 frontman caused a massive stir when he stepped out sporting his freshly shaven head during Monday night’s show.

To make matters even more confusing, the episode — which was shot on two separate occasions — also showcased his cropped ‘do before the big chop.

Unsurprisingly, Levine’s bald look caused fans plenty of confusion and distress, and it wasn’t long before they took to social media to vent.

Some of the most hilarious reactions included comparisons to Dr. Evil, Professor X, Britney Spears and “a white Kobe Bryant”.

Even Levine’s pal and fellow Voice judge Blake Shelton couldn’t resist taking a stab at his shiny melon during the show.

Seeing the harsh reaction on social media, the Moves Like Jagger singer took to Twitter, defending his decision to go bald.

Excuse me. Lex Luthor was bald. I have "shaved" my head. Meaning, shaved by choice. Big difference. Ok?!! Ok?!!

This isn’t the first time Levine has shaved his head. In May 2012, he showed off a bald look for the first time.

“I shaved my head,” Levine tweeted at the time. “Sometimes it’s just necessary, like an emotional reboot. It’ll grow back.”

In 2014, he shocked fans yet again when he dyed his tresses platinum blonde.

Ah well, his model wife Behati Prinsloo seems to be a fan.
