Actor John Wood says filming Channel 7’s strip show The All New Montywas “excruciatingly painful.”
Wood, the Gold Logie winning star of television classics including Blue Heelers and Rafferty’s Rules, told Confidential: “I’ve been doing TV for 50 years now and I found the reality TV part of it excruciatingly painful.
“I’ve done a lot of television and there’s nothing real about reality TV. That part of it was extremely boring. I’ve done 700-odd episodes of shows like Heelers and Rafferty’s, so I don’t need to be told how to behave.”
Wood will strip off on alongside AFL greats Brendan Fevola and Robert DiPierdomenico, NRL pin-up boy George Burgess, rugby legend Lote Tuquiri, reality star Matty Johnson, and children’s entertainer Sam Moran, on the show, airing on Tuesday night.
The show supports men’s health causes.
“The actual strip was really quite exhilarating,” Wood said. “I’ve never been in an auditorium that made that much noise. I didn’t even notice that, at the end, I didn’t have any clothes on.”
Meanwhile, Johnson said his downfall was dancing.

“I’ve never really been a dancer. I struggle to keep a beat more than four seconds,” Johnson said. “I just have this fear that everyone will be in sync, and I will be three moves behind, just that odd ball out.”
He added: “I’ll probably be the last one to get the g-string off.”
