Superstar Taylor Swift is rumoured to perform at the MCG next year following in the footsteps of her mate Ed Sheeran.

Speculation on the Anti-Hero singer’s arrival Down Under had social media in a spin after celebrity gossip site DeuxMoi tweeted that The Eras Tour dates had been booked in for Melbourne.

Ticketek also created a waitlist for fans to be notified when the much sought-after tickets go on sale.

It comes as a MCG source told pop culture podcast Shameless that dates were secured at the stadium for February or March 2024.

“Taylor Swift has looked at what Ed Sheeran did with his dates at the MCG, saw that the audience approval was really high, people really enjoyed it and she’s doing the same thing in 2024,” said podcast host Michelle Andrews.

“So keep your eyes out for dates, it looks like she is coming to us and it won’t be too far away.”

The pop star is expected to tour the country and cram an epic 44 songs into her three hour and 13 minute set, similar to her sellout shows in the USA.

Her smash hits like Love Story, Cruel Summer, Look What You Made Me Do, Blank Space and The Man will be on the setlist.

Swift and Sheeran first became friends in 2012 when the duo teamed up for the hit song Everything Has Changed that featured on Swift’s Red album.

Sheeran broke records at the start of the month when about 215,000 fans packed the MCG over two nights to watch the megastar perform.

But ground staff were left to lay new turf when about 137 trucks, delivering staging equipment, killed the grass on parts of the oval.

It’s understood employees worked around-the-clock to present a pristine surface for the Carlton-Richmond clash AFL season opener.

The seven-figure repair job bill was funded by the concert promoters.

A Ticketek spokesman told the Herald Sun they were unable to comment on the rumour.

The MCG were also contacted for comment.
