Supermodel Elle Macpherson has schooled the wannabes and insta-WAGs on what real influence looks like.

Turning 60 in March, Macpherson brought genuine wow factor to her two day Melbourne media blitz with included an appearance at Myer, a WelleCo cocktail party complete with a mandatory mediation moment to the sounds of an African wood flute and a ‘master of frequency’ at an odd basement bar off Collins Street, and AO commitments.

Sure, she is a bit hippy dippy, talking about beauty coming from soul level, Zen space, using your heart as a compass and wanting to spread wellness to the world, but she is a rare star and has been an intriguing and aspirational brand and businesswoman for 40 years.

After a fortnight where PRs representing companies involved with the Australian Open have flogged guests of wildly varying degrees of alleged fame, it was a relief to see a rolled gold celebrity ace the Open, turn heads, stop rooms, and reveal people from 20 through to 80 as fans.

Forget courtside chic, Macpherson aced tennis glam doing two outfit changes on Thursday when she was a guest of the AO at its Inspiration Series dinner and the women’s semi finals.

The Australian fashion icon, who was celebrating the 10th anniversary of her WelleCo ‘exlirs’ (or in less fancy language supplements), arrived in a Ralph Lauren black blazer and flowing white pants, changed into a striking Alex Perry red suit for her on stage interview and jumped back into her blazer and pants for an evening at the tennis.

Looking as though she has found the key to turning back the ageing clock, she is a heck of an advertisement for her herbal powders.

She is also a powerful influencer — plenty of women in her presence will have already have placed WelleCo orders, wanting a bit of the Macpherson magic to rub off - and you can bet she will be still around when most of this year’s insta-famous crop of tennis ‘it’ girls are long gone.
