Canadian actress and supermodel Dayle Haddon has died from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning inside the home of Buffy The Vampire Slayer star Marc Blucas.
US police were called to a home in Bucks County, New Jersey on Friday local time after a man, 76, was found passed out on the first floor of the home.
When police arrived, the body of Haddon, 76, was found at the scene in a second-floor bedroom.
While investigating the scene, the fire department detected a high level of carbon monoxide in the property.
“Preliminary investigation is showing that a heating unit malfunctioned exposing a large amount of carbon monoxide within the carriage house,” Detective Sargeant Jonathan Koretzky told CBS News.
Toxicology reports to determine the cause of death are expected on Saturday local time, according to authorities.
It’s currently unclear as to whether Blucas, who owns the property, was at home at the time of the incident.
Blucas, who is married to Haddon’s daughter, is best known for his roles opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and numerous Hallmark films.
His mother in law, Haddon, rose to fame as a supermodel, appearing on the cover of Vogue multiple times.
She also modelled in Playboy and represented Revlon, Estée Lauder, Clairol, and Max Factor.
Haddon, the author of the book “Ageless Beauty: A Woman’s Guide to Lifelong Beauty and wellbeing,” went on to become a long-running face of L’Oreal’s anti-ageing products.
She later set her sights on Hollywood and landed her first role in the Disney movie The World’s Greatest Athlete in 1973.
She went on to garner just over 25 acting credits, including 1975’s The Cheaters, 1977’s Madame Claude, 1979’s North Dallas Forty, 1986’s Desert Chase, 1989’s Cyborg, 1992’s Unbecoming Age and 1994’s Bullets Over Broadway.
Haddon was also the founder of a non-profit called WomenOne. The organization’s motto is “changing the world one woman at a time.”
Through WomenOne, Haddon partnered with Free The Children, an international charity, to provide scholarships for girls’ education in Kenya.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, and by their two young children.
