While touring Australia, Michael Buble has put on a surprise performance for some of his biggest fans – the silverback gorillas at Werribee Open Range Zoo.
When Zoos Victoria learned that the Canadian singer was set to arrive in Melbourne, they reached out to tell him about his primate fan base.
Buble posted a video of his special performance for the gorillas on Twitter.
The star serenaded Ganyeka, Yakini and Motaba with his Christmas classics.
Gorilla Keeper Ben Gulli explained the gorillas have a grumbling reaction to his songs - but in a good way.
“When we play Michael Buble’s CD the gorillas will instantly start ‘pleasure grumbling’ and sit nice and calm and relaxed,” he said.
“Our theory is the beautiful low tones he sings with kind of mimic their pleasure grumbling.”
“We think he must really resonate with that sound.”
The rangers have been playing the CD for them for a few years now, enjoying carols all year round.
“It’s been played so much it’s even got a few scratches on it, so I went and bought a new one in preparation for his visit.” Mr Gulli said.
