Shane Warne says the script for his Hollywood movie needs to be toned down as he eyes an all-Aussie cast for the film.
As revealed by the Herald Sun last month, the spin king went to LA for talks with the filmmakers who have based it on his fairytale Indian Premier League triumph with the Rajasthan Royals in 2008.
“There was a bit too much sex, drugs and rock n roll in it, it needs to be a bit less Hollywood-ised’’ Warne said.
“It’s fine to be loosely based on a true story, I understand it’s got to be a film, but it had a bit too much in it.
“There’s been a lot of interest. All I’m trying to do is get the script 100 percent by Christmas or New Year.”
Warne, who played a round at Royal Melbourne Golf Club yesterday ahead of the Presidents Cup next month, had suggested Chris Hemsworth or Leonardo DiCaprio for the lead role as himself, but he’s also thrown Russell Crowe in the mix.
“Russell Crowe is a great friend and he loves his cricket,’’ said Warne pictured with Geoff Ogilvy and the Presidents Cup.
CHRIS HEMSWORTH HITS THE SURF IN TULLARMARINE
“He’s such a quality actor, has done a lot of different roles. Chris Hemsworth is killing it and he’s an Aussie from Victoria too.
“I think we should have Margot Robbie too. We could have the All-Australian affair. She was great in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
“It’s all about cricket now but this is exciting. I’ll be back for the Presidents Cup and I’m really pumped.”
