She was nominated for an Emmy Award early on Wednesday — but it appears Australian actor Sarah Snook may be celebrating while masked up and locked down in Melbourne.
Snook, who got a best supporting actress nod for her role as Shiv Roy, in the HBO drama Succession, has been stuck in Australia since May.
She came home to see friends and family during a break in filming, but a flight that was supposed to take her home to New York never eventuated after borders were shut down.
“I had a suitcase full of summer clothes,” she told The Australian in May. “My flight out to New York was through Melbourne and in the two days between arriving here, and being due to leave, everything changed. So, I’ve been staying with friends.”
Snook posted a picture, wearing a face mask, on her verified Instagram account on July 22, saying: “Tmrw is mandatory for Victorians to wear a mask outside their home. How lucky are we that we have such a simple way to contribute to the safety of the wider community?”
She also posted about donating food and supplies to a drop-off centre in Brunswick on July 6, and a call out about the lockdowns at the Kensington, North Melbourne and Flemington public housing towers on July 5.
“Pretty grim circumstances, if you can help, please do,” Snook wrote.
Confidential has contacted Snook’s management team for comment.
Australian actors Cate Blanchett, Hugh Jackman, Toni Collette, and Hannah Gadsby also picked up Emmy nods.
Blanchett was nominated for lead actress in a limited TV series or movie category for her performance as Phyllis Schlafly in Mrs America.
Jackman received his nod for lead actor in a limited TV series or movie for Bad Education.
Collette was nominated for her supporting role in Unbelievable.
Comedian Hannah Gadsby is up for outstanding writing for a variety special for Douglas.
HBO’s Watchmen dominated Tuesday’s nomination ceremony with 26 nods, followed by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (20 nominations) and Ozark (18 nominations).
