Embattled Sam Newman has been left speechless after crashing his beloved boat, saying the vessel was “rooted” following the collision.

Sam Newman was left lost for words after crashing his boat on Monday.

The former Footy Show larrikin said his pride and joy was “rooted” after he lost concentration while practising with a remote control and caused a collision with another boat.

“I was so annoyed, I couldn’t speak,’’ Newman, 75, said.

“I couldn’t get any words or any invective or swear words or blasphemous out.

“I couldn’t speak they (the words) were stuck in my throat. I thought to myself, how dumb and stupid and incompetent and senile are you, that you couldn’t work that out.”

Newman said he was using a remote to limp the boat in but he had reversed it in his hand.

“You walk up to the back of the boat so you pretend the back of the boat’s the front and then you back it in while you’re standing at the back of the boat,’’ he said on his You Cannot Be Serious podcast.

“It ostensibly is going forward and you can berth it better.

“I’m happy to say I’m simple and I was incompetent. But when you turn the remote device around in your hand it then reverses what you think is going forward and what you think is going back.

“So when you push the lever to push it forward, if you’re not concentrating it actually is pushing it back.

“I got it halfway in and I thought it was going a bit quickly so I’ll reverse it. And then what I did was push it forward and it sped into the wharf and into someone else’s boat.

“It put a hole in the boat and the wharf and the fenders.”

Newman and co-hosts Don Scott and Rod Law joked he would start a Go Fund Me page for the vessel.

In February last year he was mourning the loss of “the love of my life”, his beloved boat named Sea Sea Rider, which clipped rocks near Williamstown.
