Robbie Williams fans rejoice.
The British pop rock great is headed to Australia for a one-off show in Melbourne, coinciding with the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2020.
He is taking the stage for the inaugural World Tour, which runs alongside the racing event and will hit Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park on March 14.
“I am looking forward to getting down to Australia, it’s a place that is in my heart. I feel like an Aussie when I am there, and if there’s an opportunity to get down there, I grab it with both hands,” Williams said of the show.
World Tour organisers said in a press release they would be supporting fundraising efforts for the bushfires, with more details to be announced.
The statement said they would use the show to “provide a platform for artists to talk about and act on the climate emergency”.
Speaking about the devastating bushfires that have been engulfing Australia since October, Williams, 45, said the situation was “unfathomable”.
“This is beyond a tragedy, it’s unfathomable what has happened, and what is happening, in Australia,” Williams said.
“You see photographs of what’s actually happening, it can’t sink in, you can’t understand that, it’s beyond any reality that we’ve experienced before. I think it would be trite of me to send my love or condolences, I think it needs more.”
Tickets are set to go on sale on January 20 at Ticketek, with general admission tickets available (standing and seated) as well as exclusive access seats.
Williams is considered one of the greatest entertainers of all time, with a slew of hits including Angels, Rock DJ, Let Me Entertain You and Better Man.
