Spilt Milk is the latest Australian music festival to be cancelled this year in a huge blow to fans.
Organisers broke the news to fans on Instagram after weeks of silence.
“Sorry pookies, we couldn’t get you the Spilt Milk you deserve this year. Sooo imma dip for a bit and come back when I can make all ur dreams come true. i miss u xx SPILT MILK,” the statement read.
It comes after Splendour in the Grass and Groovin the Moo both cancelled their 2024 shows.
Spilt Milk is a travelling festival that goes to Canberra, Gold Coast, Ballarat and Perth.
Last year, fans enjoyed a stellar line up with Post Malone and Dom Dolla taking to the stage.
Although organisers have not disclosed the reason for cancelling the festival the online statement does suggest that the festival will make a return next year.
Spilt Milk is one of Australia’s most popular music festivals and usually sells out in minutes.
It launched in 2016 and has grown in popularity each year.
Fans were quick to react to the news on social media.
One person wrote: “Love you Spilt Milk! Already excited for next year.”
While another simply stated: “Poor effort.”
Others saw the funny side, with one person joking: “No use crying over it.”
Sources in the music festival industry have previously shed light on why Australian festivals were cancelling their shows this year.
Insiders told The Guardian that there was a scarcity in headline acts which had impacted ticket sales.
They also blamed the tightening budgets as the Aussie dollar weakens.
“Gone are the days when people read from top to bottom of a line-up,” one promoter said. “In media and on socials, it’s really the top artists driving most of the heat.”
“It’s really difficult for any festival in Australia to secure what people consider headline talent right now,” they added.
“Previously, between 60 to 70% of offers you made would confirm, and now it’s probably like 20 to 30%.”
