Pippa Middleton, who became famous at her sister Kate’s wedding to Prince William, has given birth to her second child.
The baby girl, who has been named Grace Elizabeth Jane Matthews, was born this week weighing in the early hours of Monday (London time) weighing 2.92kg.
Pippa, 37, already has a two-year-old son, Arthur, with her husband James Matthews, a hedge fund manager.
In a nod to the Queen, they chose Elizabeth for Grace’s middle name.
“I’m delighted to confirm, Grace Elizabeth Jane Matthews was born around 4.22am this morning, weighing 6lbs 7oz,” a family spokesman said.
“Mother and baby are doing well.”
The baby will be another cousin for Kate’s children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Prince William’s children were likely to see more of Arthur and Grace than they are of Prince Harry’s son Archie, and soon to be born baby girl.
The bitter feud between the royal brothers, which in part prompted Prince Harry’s move to California, has meant they have hardly seen Archie.
Pippa and Kate’s mother Carole Middleton spoke about the birth of her forthcoming grandchild – now her fifth – in an interview with Britain’s Good Housekeeping magazine.
In the article, which was due to be published in the April edition, Carole Middleton said: “I also hope to see more of my family than I could last year, including, of course, my new grandchild.”
She had turned down publicity to spruik the front cover interview because of concerns it would be insensitive to Prince Philip, 99, who remains in hospital.
The Duke of Edinburgh was still being cared for in King Edward VII’s Hospital, with his treatment for a heart condition going into a fourth week.
Pippa’s pregnancy was first mooted when the New York Post’s Page Six reported in December she was expecting.
A source at the time said: “Pippa and James are thrilled, it’s fantastic news amid a difficult year. The entire family is delighted.”
But Pippa has always kept mum on her pregnancy, even though she was seen last week out in public.
The couple live in a $30 million home in London, where they showed off their posh Christmas tree in photos released last year.
They were also reported to have bought a 70 hectare farm in Berkshire, 90 minutes west of London.
The property, Bucklebury Farm, was a tourist attraction which included a deer and safari park that was forced to close because of the coronavirus restrictions in the UK.
The couple had confirmed they were interested in the $2.7 million property but had denied reports they planned to live there.
