Beloved Channel Nine presenter Peter Hitchener sent a scare through televisions across Victoria on Monday night.
The veteran broadcaster, 75, was taken off air mid bulletin after he appeared to struggle to read his teleprompter.
He was replaced by sports presenter Clint Stanaway despite many originally thinking the autocue had failed.
Viewers were quick to express their concern for the much-loved figure through social media, with many fearing he had suffered a stroke.
“I think something is wrong with Peter Hitchener ... seriously,” one viewer said.
Another wrote: “It was awful to watch ... I’m really worried. He’s a true gem.”
Tennis star Dylan Alcott added: “Can someone please replace Peter Hitchener for the rest of the night and make sure the king is ok? Worried about him!”
Thanks so much for your well wishes... I am feeling better already. I am most grateful for your support.

A Nine spokesman confirmed Hitchener experienced a migraine while reading the bulletin.
“He’s resting up, but is fine and will be on tomorrow night’s news,” he said.
Hitchener later tweeted: “Thanks so much for your well wishes... I am feeling better already. I am most grateful for your support.”
