Who bought eerie item up for grabs at Mick Gatto’s gala fundraiser?

Sources say “you don’t say no to Mick”, which is no doubt why a spooky item auctioned at Gatto’s recent gala fundraiser raised eyebrows but not alarm.

When item 24 of the silent auction at Mick Gatto’s gala event came up last Saturday, there were a few audible gulps:

“Funeral Service”

No one could say the deadly auction item donated by Newland Funerals and valued at $15,000 wasn’t the whole package.

It included a casket and coffin, the transfer of deceased, basic mortuary care, a certified copy of death certificate and floral tributes thrown in for good measure.

It’s long been known that when the colourful Carlton character hosts a gala event the tables are always booked out well in advance.

As one quivered to Page 13 “you don’t say no to Mick.”

The Carlton mediator raised $2 million at last weekend’s Equal Access For Autism gala at Hyatt Place, with 1000 guests including controversial neurosurgeon Dr Charlie Teo, former bikie boss Toby Mitchell and actor Vince Colosimo attending.

Icing on the cake was none other than George Calombaris designing the three course menu.

But we are unsure who went home with the package.
