What happened on Dale Thomas’s boozy night

Eyewitnesses have come out of the woodwork to reveal what really happened at Dale Thomas’s boozy charity function with some saying his efforts harked back to Brendan Fevola’s Brownlow bender.

Was there a “daisy chain” of events at the Camp Quality fundraising event last week that saw Carlton’s Dale Thomas benched for the game with arch-rivals Essendon tomorrow?

What was first reported as three drinks, turned into six, and according to some, turned into “blotto” for those close to the action.

Everyone had an opinion on it — from Eddie McGuire (“as long as he wasn’t drinking 30”) to Bob Murphy (“I don’t think I would bring him back”).

Some went so far as to liken it to Brendan Fevola’s Brownlow bender, while others said it was a “saintly Daisy doing his bit for the kids”.

Like goalposts, it’s usually somewhere in between.

Eyewitnesses at the annual Camp Quality fundraising event at the Grand Hyatt ballroom told Page 13 Daisy had more than a skinful.

“He was blotto,” said one who didn’t want to be named for fear of social media retribution.

We get it.

Former Bachelorette Georgia Love copped more than a spray this week when she tweeted: “I was there and saw it. There’s no way he’d only had three drinks.”

Another said: “He was lurching all around grabbing at people, plenty were shaking their heads at his antics”.

Others said Thomas was “being a dick” and while in a “jovial mood”, he was “not in great shape.”

After Thomas crash-tackled former reality star, turned model, turned fashion designer Rhys Uhlich to the ground, but in a jovial way, one bystander looked at Thomas and said: “Mate, don’t you have a game to play soon?” to which Thomas laughed and lurched off.

Accounts of Daisy spraying champagne on former Blues teammate Robbie Warnock were downplayed by the club.

“He spilt a drink and apologised,” we were told. Another version was that he threw $40 at Warnock and said something along the lines of “$20 for being a goose and the other $20 is for dry-cleaning”.

Some said Thomas he was “hollering” when an umpire won the raffle.

Camp Quality refused to blow the whistle, telling Page 13 “an individual won the raffle.” Nothing to see here.

Blues coach Brendon Bolton hasn’t made his mind up yet, saying the 31-year-old Thomas is out of contract at the end of the season, but refusing to guarantee his return in round 13.

“I’m not going to make that call right now. We’ll do what’s best for Daisy and what’s best for us,” Bolton said yesterday.

Yesterday, Camp Quality was standing behind Thomas, saying he attended as a guest on the evening to help raise the event’s profile.

They said Thomas raised $1000 on his auction item, which contributed to a total of $350,000 raised on the night
