Veteran Melbourne crime reporter Cameron Baud covered plenty of death while working at Channel 7 — but it seems he hasn’t tired of it yet.

Now it appears he is setting up a business to work as an MC for funeral services.

He is certainly keeping it in his wheelhouse, remember Baud was the bloke who bluntly asked wife killer Borce Ristevski “Borce, did you kill Karen?” during a press conference.

He may need to work on his delivery as a master of ceremonies during an atmosphere of reverence and solemnity in a funeral service.

It’s understood Baud has reached out to several people and former colleagues this week, talking about his new funeral service MC business and asking them for recommendations and referrals.

Readers may remember Page 13 first reported in June that Baud was sent packing following the recent lay-offs of network veterans Robert Ovadia and Andrew Frampton amid accusations of a “toxic workplace” culture.

Letting Baud go was rather unexpected to say the least, with Baud being told in the middle of working on a story that he had to leave, immediately vacating the Network’s Docklands headquarters.

At the time Seven sent a rather curt statement to Page 13 to say Baud was “not part of our plans for the future”, and those within the newsroom said his termination couldn’t have come soon enough, with many disappointed over the handling of a Seven investigation into an incident with a female colleague in the past.

At the time the veteran crime reporter told Page 13 that “the termination of my employment did not arise out of any allegation/s of misconduct”, adding “I reserve my rights”.
