RADIO hosts David Schwarz and Mark Allen have been left “bleeding” after they walked away from a bitter $1 million legal battle with Craig Hutchison’s Crocmedia empire. This is why.

DAVID Schwarz and Mark Allen have walked away from a $1 million legal battle with Craig Hutchison’s Crocmedia empire.

But don’t think it’s not through gritted teeth. Former Melbourne champion David “The Ox” Schwarz and his former SEN, The Run Home, co-host Mark Allen were unexpectedly axed late last year as apart of Crocmedia’s takeover of the struggling station.

Ox and Marko went to the lawyers, claiming SEN station bosses agreed to a binding new two-year deal with the duo before the station merged with Hutchison’s Crocmedia.

Schwarz was demanding $562,126.93 for work on his afternoon radio show as well as commentating on games for the specialist sports station.

Allen was demanding $418,710.46, according to a legal letter seen by Page 13.

“SEN engaged in conduct that, at the very least, was likely to mislead or deceive our clients,” the letter stated.

SEN, under boss Cathy Thomas, agreed to terms in an email and promised to provide a contract to sign, the letter continued.

But alas, no contract was forthcoming. When Hutchy became SEN chief executive, the pair was shown the door and left fuming.

But the in-demand radio hosts got jobs. And good ones. And quickly.

Any chance of a $1 million payout sailed out the door as Schwarz and Allen took up the microphones at Macquarie Media’s new Sports Radio.

Good money and the same hours saw the million dollars losing a few zeros.

The pair wasn’t in a mood to talk, but Page 13 was told: “The boys are now on their feet. They didn’t want to give up the fight, but they thought it best to walk away and be the bigger person. They’re bleeding about it though.”
