Page 13: Top Melbourne venues shun Adult Industry Choice Awards

The hotly-anticipated Adult Industry Choice Awards has found a home after being turned away by some of Melbourne’s top venues.

Organisers of the hotly-anticipated Adult Industry Choice Awards are breathing a sigh of relief this week after finally securing a replacement venue to host its Melbourne event.

Word on the street is the team were left scrambling after initially locking in Crown Casino to host the shindig on October 16 before the high-end brand, erm, pulled out at the last-minute.

But it’s not the only well-known venue across the city which reportedly turned down the chance to host the $500,000 one-night affair.

Both Marvel Stadium and House of God hotspot Planetshakers, once made popular by former Prime Minister Scott Morrison who was filmed at the church in a “raw moment of prayer” back in 2018, also politely declined to partake in the festivities.

Page 13 understands organisers were told that the church was unable to host an event that had ties to sex, gambling or even “blood sports” as it would lose its religious standing.

Sounds like a win-win for the awards team, if you ask us.

Host of the night, Belinda Gavin, confirmed to Page 13 the team was forced to run around for two weeks to find a solution before Centrepiece at Olympic Park finally came to the rescue.

“Centrepiece has accepted us, we are a huge event that yearly hold a gala black tie awards show for the top achievers in the Australian Adult Industry,” Ms Gavin said.

“But we had to change the date from the 16th to the 17th of October after it had been locked in with the industry for over six months!”

“We are very grateful. We will also be streaming the show live for those that cannot make the actual event.”
