Far from feeling blue, the purple Wiggle said his yellow bride Emma had found peace in separation.

“We are the best of friends, we always have been, that’s how it started,” Lachy told Page 13.

“To be able to realise as a couple that we were going different ways and to stay as close as we are is a real testament, I think, to both of us.

“I love her more now than anything and she loves me more than anything.”

It was all Romp, Bomp and Stomp as the skivvy-wearing entertainers fell in love while working together for the children’s supergroup.

A true to life Aussie fairytale, their love story Chuga Chugga’d all the way down the aisle two years ago.

So it came as a shock when the always smiling Wiggles power couple announced the wheels had fallen off the Big Red Car.

News of their marriage collapse came just weeks after yellow Wiggle Emma, 27, spoke about her ongoing and painful battle with acute endometriosis.

Emma was forced to stop touring last year to undergo surgery for the debilitating illness, which affects the female reproductive system.

Fans were blissfully unaware of any split but perhaps the signs were already there in April when Emma posted a photo of her recuperating from surgery alone in a hospital bed symbolically holding purple flowers.

What Emma’s smiling recovery photo showed, we now know, was that Lachy was well and truly out of the picture.

Lachy, 32, said their break up had meant Emma could now focus solely on getting well.

“She is still really tired,” he said “and just really concentrating on getting better”.

Lachy said he moved out of the house they shared in Sydney after going through a trial separation since February.

He said they were like any other couple and just realised they had reached a stalemate in their seemingly picture-perfect relationship.

“It’s life,” he said.

“We had such a connection at the start and in a way it has got stronger through the whole separation.

“We have got to that point that we know our paths have changed and things were not working as a couple. But all we care about is the children who watch the show. That’s how it started and that hasn’t changed.”

Emma was the first female to join the Wiggle supergroup in 2012 after Wiggle Sam Moran was dumped. She first appeared on the Dorothy series as Fairy Larissa and then as Wags the Dog.

Lachy said they had at first kept their relationship a secret, such was their love for the fans.

“We didn’t bring our relationship out early, we waited because of the shows to see how it was going.”

Lachy denied recent headlines their impending divorce would cause a split in the Wiggles juggernaut and said the group was stronger than ever with them working around-the-clock this week on the latest spin-off, a new Emma series.

He said they would continue to perform as Emma and Lachy in The Wiggles alongside fellow band members Anthony Field and Simon Pryce.

“For the four of us it is all about the music, that’s all we have ever wanted to do.

“We have just done this Emma TV series and the music just keeps getting better and better, every time we are in the studio.

“It’s only just got started really.”
