The Mokbel name is usually linked to crime boss Tony Mokbel and his infamous deeds. But the clan has rallied around his meth-trafficking brother, Milad, as he faces a different fight.

Almost $50,000 has been raised for Run Melbourne in support of the drug-trafficking brother of crime boss Tony Mokbel.
Milad Mokbel, who is suffering from motor neurone disease, was jailed in 2003 when he pleaded guilty to trafficking a commercial quantity of meth. His daughter Jade organised the fundraising campaign with surnames such as Malkoun, Trimboli and Barbaro giving generously.
“Never had I imagined that the strongest, healthiest and fittest man I have ever known, would be diagnosed with MND. And then it happened,” Jade wrote on the fun run’s fundraising page.

Milad was sentenced to extra jail time in 2011 for trafficking drugs cooked up in a clandestine lab near Rye. Jade describes her father as a man with a big heart who would do anything to help people around him.
“We have created this page in support of our man Milad,” the Run Melbourne page reads. “The man who never fails to put a smile on everyone’s face and leave them in tears of laughter. The world is a better place simply because he is in it so, we will do whatever it takes to find a cure and fight MND.”
Last night $48,769.25 had been raised for Mokbel.
