The row between Channel 9 and the Seven Network over that Edwina Bartholomew “errant tweet” to reporter Seb Costello doesn’t look like settling anytime soon.
Last week, the media was all atwitter after the pregnant Sunrise star posted a caustic comment on social media about the journalist.
The tweet, which has now been removed, was in response to a Nine News Melbourne story by Costello regarding a security scare at Spring Street.
It’s understood Seb, the son of former Australian treasurer and Nine chairman Peter Costello, was talking with the network about what action to take. A defamation case is time-consuming and costly, but Nine was not satisfied with the so-called apology from a “half asleep” Bartholomew on the other side of the world.
A Nine source told Page 13 a legal letter was served on Channel 7 on Friday expressing Nine’s dissatisfaction at the “false and unprovoked” tweet and requesting an apology from the network. Seven’s response, or lack thereof, has not pleased Nine, with the two networks again at loggerheads.
