The AFL’s leading lady Caroline Wilson has caught Covid in Amsterdam.

Wilson and her family have all been struck down in the past week in the Netherlands capital, where a new wave has struck.

“I’ve managed to avoid it for 18 months since it hit Australia but it is rife in Amsterdam and we’ve all come down with it,” Wilson said.

Wilson and her husband, former Channel 7 state political reporter Brendan Donohoe, are visiting family in Europe.

“It is worse than the flu,” she told the Don’t Shoot The Messenger podcast.

“Fevers, dehydration, the worst headaches, aching bones.

“Brendan hasn’t been too bad but the first two days I couldn’t read, I couldn’t use my brain it was so foggy.

“It is very odd the way this virus takes over your body, it plays with your sleep, your dreams, your appetite.

“You lose your sense of smell but I’m getting better and have now started cooking again.”

The Footy Classified co-host revealed she’d never watched so much television and had cried while watching Titanic again.
