New documentary to give rare look inside Dustin Martin’s private world
An upcoming, behind-the-scenes Dustin Martin documentary already has four years of footage in the can — promising to give fans a rare look into the Richmond star’s intensely private life.

A behind-the-scenes documentary about Dustin Martin announced this week already has four years of footage in the can.
Tentatively titled, Gold Dust, the feature-length doco is a fly-on-the-wall look into the Richmond star’s intensely private life.
Martin’s manager Ralph Carr says it’s been in the pipeline for years, but it had to be done by the right people.
“Obviously we have marketed Dustin differently, because he is a different kind of individual,” Carr said.
“So it was important it had to be done properly. I’m a huge fan of the Amy Winehouse documentary. It had to be someone who understood my and Dusty’s vision.”
Not many in the biz have a black book like Carr’s.
So, securing director Richard Lowenstein and genius producer Mark Fennessy was just a phone call away.
Lowenstein spearheaded the Michael Hutchence documentary Mystify, not to mention cult 80s movie, Dogs in Space, starring Hutchence, which was mostly shot on the streets of Richmond.
“You need a director that has come from the music or left-of-centre world because that’s what this is. It’s not a generic. It’s going to talk about a lot of sensitive things.
Martin’s father Shane, a former member of the Rebels motorcycle gang who was deported to New Zealand, will feature heavily in the storyline.
